Dr. T.M.A. Pai Fellowships: Awarded for doctoral studies in humanities, higher education and science. The fellowships support scholars in the pursuit of doctoral studies leading to the award of Ph.D. degree from Manipal academy of Higher Education (MAJE), a deemed university. The scholarships are tenable at the constituent colleges of MAHE and other inst associated with the programme. Fellowships (Doctoral and Postdoctoral) for Work on Tribal Problems: Awarded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to research scholars with a background of social sciences, agricultural, medicine, etc., who are already registered with a university. The period of fellowship is ordinarily for two years which may be extended up to maximum of three years. The amount of Postdoctoral fellowship is Rs.3,200.00 per month and that of doctoral fellowship is Rs.2,800.00 per month. Besides, an annual contingency grant of Rs.10,000.00 is also provided. ICSSR Research Fellowships: The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has introduced a large-scale programme for supporting research projects of individual social scientists for promoting social science research at various levels. The Council awards National Fellowships, Senior Fellowships, General Fellowships, (for young social scientists), Doctoral Fellowships, Centrally Administered Fellowships, Institutional Doctoral Fellowships are tenable at 15 autonomous social science research institutions partially financed by the ICSSR. ICPR Research Fellowship for Philosophy: Awarded to research scholars of all ages to engage themselves, on a full time basis, in research projects proposed by them or in the projects of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR). Five types of awards are given: National Fellowships, Senior Fellowships, General Fellowships, short-term and Residential Fellowships and Fellowships for Preparing learning material. ICHR Research Fellowships for History: Awarded to historians in universities, colleges and other institutions who have established their reputation for research and also to M.Phil and Ph.D. students. There are five categories of awards: Junior Fellowships for pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D. studies, Postdoctoral Fellowships, Pay-protection Fellowships, Senior Fellowships and National Fellowships. Infosys Fellowships: Infosys Technologies, the IT giant, had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) to institute two fellowships to promote fundamental and advanced research in law. Research Scholarships for Classical Language: Scholarships of two0year duration are awarded for undertaking among others critical editing of classical texts and manuscripts, exposition of texts and commentaries. The Languages covered are Indian classical Languages including Arabic and Persian, but excluding Sanskrit. Scholarships for Prosecuting Studies in Sanskrit: Awarded to candidates who have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Sanskrit and offering Sanskrit (including Pali and Prakrit) as main subject of study at Intermediate, BA, MA and Ph.D. levels.
