Annexure 2: Grading System in Management Courses

The academic performance of students could be assessed in terms of grades/percentage of marks obtained in differing courses as well as a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The average of grades computed or in percentage marks obtained in aggregate are illustrated below.

The minimum passing grade for each course and field project shall be C i.e. grade point 3, say, on an 8 point scale, as given below, or 40% marks.

A student whose CGPA at the end of the first year, say on an eight point scale, is 4.0 and above or 50% and above marks in aggregate and who has not obtained more than two permanent Fs shall be permitted to undertake the summer project and be promoted and permitted to register for the second year.

The minimum passing grade at the end of the second year of the programme shall be a CGPA of five or more, say on an 8 point scale or 60% in aggregate. A student in the second year of the programme who fails to obtain a CGPA of five or more or 60% or more marks in aggregate at the end of each year or has obtained more than two permanent Fs in courses or has obtained a permanent F for the summer project will fail.
